- It is our ideal to cultivate in students’ all-round ability to design creatively and independent character as a designer. We intend such ability and character to serve, in turn, as the founding block for the study of both the theory and practice of design and plan but also able enough to turn his imagination to reality. In this institute, furthermore, emphasis goes, on the one hand, to the applied aspect of the skills of design. And, on the other hand, to the study of fundamental design theories. The former is meant to cultivate advanced technologists necessitated by our country for the development and up-dating of its industry, while the purpost of the latter is to foster design theorists to contribute to this field of study.

- In accordance with the changing of living environment, the department has come to the conclusion that a training course has to contain various themes to meet future needs.

- The Department of Plastic Arts differs from traditional Fine Arts departments in the sense that it offers a wider range of studies in both pure and applied art than the latter. The goal of the department is to educate its students to develop a high level of creativity and productivity in art. This is essential in their advanced study as well as in their search for future careers. The teaching program comprises three principal fields in the upper division curricula: painting, sculpture and crafts. When students have completed the fundamental courses they can choose which of the three categories they wish to pursue as their major field of study.
