The doctoral program was launched in the 2001 academic year. The objective is to train advanced management scholars and professionals who will be capable of conducting quality scholarly researches, and effectively integrate theory and practice. In addition, this program will emphasize training in information technology application and foreign languages in response to the rapidly increasing demand of society for human resources in knowledge economy. The focus areas include: Marketing and Logistics Management, Financial Management, Human Resource Management, and Information and Technology Management. As the program evolves more focus areas will be added in the future.

With the onset of a globalized economy, industrial societies have been developed as economic structures that can create and utilize information. The current tendency is to computerize accounting information, and, therefore, the main goal of the department is to equip students at the same time with the necessary skills in accounting, information management and foreign languages required for professional purposes. Through the use of an integrated approach to theory and practice students are trained to acquire professional expertise as well as being prepared to meet future employment needs.

In order to train business management professionals, the department offers courses on fundamental theories such as business policy, production management, marketing management, financial management, and human resource management. The curriculum also strongly emphasizes a case study approach and learning by practical training. The main research fields include resource integration management, business diagnosis and strategies, production and marketing planning, and portfolio management

One of the joint goals of government and industry is to establish the Pacific-Asian Financial Hull in Taiwan and to encourage multinational enterprises to set up their Pacific headquarters in Taiwan. In order to meet the needs of government and industry in this respect the Financial Management Department focuses on training students to become experts on management and equity investment analysis.

The objective of the Department of Human Resource and Public Relations is to train relation management professionals who will be able to assist businesses in forming good internal and external relationships. With regard to internal relations, integrating employer-employee relations with human resource management on the basis of employer-employee harmony will promote the effectiveness of human business resources. With regard to external relations, combining marketing management and public relations through the concept of marketing public relations will expand the business market and also establish a sound social image. However, the development of each of these sets of relationships relies on skillful communication abilities as a basis for constructing a focused harmonious business environment.

Information Management (IM) is the mainstay of information technology (IT). The main purpose of the Department of Information Management is to integrate IT with management science, with a particular emphasis on industrial internship. Internships can equip students with necessary practical work experience and reinforce their understanding of the fundamentals of IM.The department¡¦s curriculum highlights applied courses such as system analysis and design, database management, artificial intelligence, management information, and application system development. Graduates are expected to understand both the theoretical and the practical aspects of information management.

It is essential for a business enterprise to keep up the excellent quality of its products in order to maintain its competitive edge on the global market. Because the operations of international business are so complex, it is necessary to broaden the knowledge base of students in International Trade or Business Management.Traditionally accepted views on Business Management are no longer good enough. The main goal of International Business Management, therefore, is to train its students to become experts with a global vision and the ability to integrate different aspects of international trade with business management.

The Department of Leisure and Recreation Management is committed to the promotion of professionalism in leisure services to improve the quality of life and well-being of people. The department offers students a wide range of courses on planning, programming, implementation, and management of leisure services that facilitate students¡¦ pursuit of professional careers in related fields. The program is partly designed in association with the curriculum requirements recommended by the Accreditation Standards of the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA, USA). Dedicated faculty with varied specialties will continue to enrich students¡¦ learning experiences with many research and service opportunities

The main objective of this department is to cultivate students to become professionals in the field of marketing and distribution management. The focus of the curriculum is on developing students¡¦ skills in marketing, retailing, and logistics management. If staff of enterprises can strengthen the advanced concepts of marketing and logistics management, they will gain more comparative advantages than their competitors.

The program can be divided into two main areas: Enterprise Management and Athletic Activities. The population of Taiwan has been increasing dramatically in recent years, partly owing to the highly developed economy. As a result people have begun to focus more on their leisure and recreational activities than before. It is commonly believed that physical activities reflect a very positive approach to life and at the same time improve the quality of a person¡¦s life. In addition, the government also invested a great amount of money in the provision of sports facilities to meet people¡¦s needs. The major goal of the department, therefore, is to educate and provide more sports administration specialists for the government and private enterprises.

In order to train professionals in teaching, learning and curriculum development, the program of Professional Development in Education offers courses on multicultural education, human development, methodology of education inquiry, statistics, psychological testing and assessment, and qualitative inquiry.Thus, students enrolled in the master program receive training on psychological theories related to learning and are also acquainted with the current education issues.In order to facilitate a student to evolve into an independent researcher, each student is also required to participate in the data collecting and analyzing of his/her advisor¡¦s research project(s).Students are expected to be able to write technical reports and to present and publish their works formally by the end of the second year.
