History |
|
During
internationalization, the contact, study and
application of foreign languages has become the new
generation's way of life. Though English is the main
international language, but because Japan and Taiwan
are geographically, historically, and economically
close to each other Japanese has become the next
most popular foreign language here. Seeing this, our
university established the Department of Applied
Japanese Language. The establishment of our
department is dedicated to developing Japanese
applying personnel, strengthening personal abilities
and promoting a global view helping students match
the needs of this internationalizing world.
Da-Yeh University's Department of Applied Japanese Language was approved for admitting students by the Ministry of Education in 1990 and started participating in the joined national college student recruitment, as well as taking up the responsibility of the planning and establishing of the whole university's Japanese curriculum. Then, in 2006 the Department of Applied Japanese Language started to recruit Japanese group graduate students into the Graduate Institute of Applied Linguistics. |

Purpose |
|
Our department's uses an omnibearing direction of development to nurture "Japan experts". Using Japanese culture as our aim, we expect students to be active in Japanese educational, academic research and economic arenas and further becoming their backbone members. Our department using internationalization as guide has been cooperating with Japan's Gakushuin University Japanese Language department's in the fields of teaching and teachers as well as many other prestigious schools. In the field of student education to strengthen our student's Japanese abilities and broaden their international vision we have since the June of 2001 been sister schools with Japan's Meikai University allowing juniors and seniors to study abroad for a semester as exchange students. |

Curriculum Features |
|
The Department of Applied
Japanese Language does not only emphasis the
development of language listening, speaking,
reading and writing abilities but also basic
literature and culture, such as traditions and
religions, making students not only able to
speak fluent Japanese but also truly understand
Japan, becoming "Japan experts".
Besides the regular methods of teaching we are also cooperating with Meikai University using transnational international video-teaching to teach students. Through live video feeds students have chances to chat directly with local Japanese students, naturally this enhances the student's Japanese language skills. And besides in-class-education our department is also actively leading all sorts of Japanese related activities, such as the annual Japanese graduation dramas, Japanese speech contests and etc. as well as holding Japanese cultural Bon dance festival activities during the anniversary school founding celebrations, letting students practice and present their Japanese, making them come to love the language. |
