History                                                        

  
This initial department is arranged after original consideration in the first semester of 1991 academic year, by at that time Principal Dr. Liu instructed that Professor Pan in graduate school of business administration is responsible for the preparatory work. The department of Industrial Relations is officially established by the approval of the Ministry of Education. In order to meet the human resources demand of the industry and business vicissitude, this predecessor department started to take steps for the reforming plan work of name change under the support of Principal Liu and attained the approval of the Ministry of Education to change the name officially as “the Department of Human Resource and Public Relations” in the first semester of 2004 academic year. This change of department name is devised to coordinate medium-range planning and development of management college in this school, in order to cultivate the human resource management professionals with the abilities of both organizational communication and relation management as the main long-term development targets, and this promotion does make management college of this school to have the differential characteristic.

 

The Educational Goal                                                   

   The purpose for the establishment of this department is to cultivate the human resource management professionals with the abilities of both organizational communication and relation management. According to this purpose, the educational goal of this department is assisting the student to have (1) the basic capacity of human resources management and the ability to promote the effective use of human resources; (2) enhancement for the communication and the relation management training and the ability to promote the competition in work place; (3) strength of the concept of corporate social responsibility, establishment of the realization of the enterprise citizens.
Ability and Knowledge to Receive

Undergraduate: this department is aimed to cultivate the undergraduate students to have the ability of communication, the ability to solve problem, ethics characteristic, and the ability of specialization. and knowledge:
  • Communication ability (listening and expression).
  • Problem-solving ability (insight, decision-making, and implement).
  • Ethics characteristics (social ethics, corporate ethics and research ethics)

Graduate: this department is aimed to cultivate the graduate students to have the ability of communication, the ability to solve problem, ethics characteristic, and the ability of specialization. In addition, this department is also expected through each teaching method to train the graduate students to have the ability of the phenomenon observation, of vicissitude examination, of tendency grasping, as well as the research plan and the implementation abilityUndergraduate: this department is aimed to cultivate the undergraduate students to have the ability of communication, the ability to solve problem, ethics characteristic, and the ability of specialization.

    Students should be acquainted with Chinese and English typing, business software, electronic presentation, human resource information system, and the World Wide Web.
  • Cross-discipline ability
    To provide students cross-discipline abilities, the program encourages students to take courses in other departments, such as the department of International Business, the department of Information Management, the department of Recreation Management, and the department of Vision Communication Design, as the second degree.
  • Practice ability
    Our program provides students application ability of theories and practice by participating in community service and internship in companies and government.

Development Direction    

  • Enlarge conducting continuing education
    The value of the graduate continuing education is to motive the interaction between business and academy. Our department began to offer graduate continuous program in 1999. We are planning to increase the recruitment and offer two-year continuing education program in the near future. The increment is expecting to enlarge the educational opportunities to people who are seeking professional skills.
  • Conduct China-Taiwan comparative research
    To develop the relationship between Mainland China and Taiwan in the human resource and public relations, we have collected information for comparative research. We also have cooperated with China to establish the research focus in the relation management between two areas.
  • Emphasize business, academy, and government cooperation
    The program emphasizes the integration between theories and practice. We have enhanced cooperation with business and government by conducting seminar and internship.
  • Improve international academic relationship
    To conduct the research in relation management and accomplish the goal of internationally academic interaction, we provide exchange-learning experience for students and faculty to visit institutes oversea.
  • Increase master program recruitment
    Fifteen Twenty students enrolled the master program in the early establishment of the program. The enrollment increased to 35 in 2002. We will continue increasing the recruitment according to the need of the industry and to advance research abilities for the practitioners.
  • Apply for doctoral program accreditation
    To establish human resource and public relations academic research for Taiwan, our department is applying the doctoral program accreditation. The PhD program is expecting to increase the research outputs.

Areas of Study                                                   

  • Human Resource Management
    The Human Resource Management at DaiYa University provides students to study human resource theories and the practices. Within the HRM program, students are expected to specialize in designing business policies and the managerial process for recruitment, employee selection, training, pay system, promotion and performance evaluation. Students may knowledgeable in labor law, assisting in solving labor disputes, and implementing human resource projects as well. Those expected skills prepare students to improve labor-management relationship and improve competitive advantages of the companies.
  • Marketing in Public Relations
    The Public Relations program focuses on integrated study of marketing and public relations. The purpose of the integration is to reach marketing goals by public relation activities. Studies of this program offers business and industry the public relation specialists by provide students the skills of marketing strategy, media application, and the planning and implementation of public relation activities.
