Graduate Institute of Applied Foreign languages
To meet the goals to internationalize our university and to enhance foreign language abilities in our students, we have particularly set up the Graduate School of Applied Linguistics subsequent to the Department of English Language, the Department of Applied Japanese, and the International Language Center. Based on our existing professional qualifications in academic subjects teaching as well as practical languages training, two modules will be introduced, including one in language application and the other in translation research. The module in language application is to cultivate in students a talent for applying linguistics to other academic fields while the module in translation research is to provide translation theories and practical skills. With the presence of our English-spoken Global Village and the digital multimedia teaching facilities, our educational goal is to help students develop their full potential under our academic teaching and practical languages training, and we hope they can be experts in language application and communication, who may transcend geographical boundaries and step into the international community.
Department of English Language
On the basis of our university's philosophy that theory and practice should be equally emphasized, the Department of English Language provides a complete and coherent study of “four-year professional English acquisition,” including one “core" program and one “specialized” program. The core program is aimed at equipping students with the listening, speaking, reading, and writing abilities of foreign languages while the specialized program consists of the two fields- business management/ international trade and foreign languages teaching, either of which students may choose to take according to their aptitude or interest, and they may in turn become excellent business talents or foreign languages teachers in the future. To highlight our features, we have invited some English native speakers with PH.D. from the U.S., South Africa, or Australia as well as some Taiwanese professors who obtained their PH.D. in the U.S., the U.K., Australia or France as staff of our faculty. They apply the heuristic method of teaching to the courses, actively interact with students, integrate students into our English-spoken Global Village, and use the multimedia technology to immerse students in a world with international languages. Our educational goal is to develop global perspectives and professional abilities in our students, who may become cross-field professional English talents.

Department of European Languages
This department breakthrough from the structure of unitary European language department in Taiwan and establish a multi-languages study of European Languages Department. Leading students to acknowledge the whole European culture background as regular, and that with intensive language program to discipline their European languages ability as canon; furthermore, with the aid of professional business management, translation and interpretation and teaching principles, we help equip students with a view of omni-directional international as well as economics and trade ability, translation and interpretation ability and teaching ability. Coordinating existing teachers, we divided into two sections: German section and French section; and the middle and long-term development is to establish the European Languages school to cultivate more students to be foreign language teachers, language translators and interpreters, and European political, economic and trade staffs.
